Rural issues top the agenda for lawmakers
font size

China's top legislature decided at a meeting Wednesday that it will list the issues of agriculture, countryside and farmers among its top subjects for investigation and supervision this year.

The lawmakers of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) will focus their investigation on land management, agricultural policies and financial assistance for the sector and, meanwhile, they will supervise the government on the implementation of relevant laws and policies, according to the meeting.

Wu Bangguo, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, addressed the meeting and said the NPC Standing Committee should step up its role of supervision and conduct in-depth surveys, so as to ensure the implementation of the relevant laws and policies.

Wu is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
