2 shells land near Japanese troops' camp in southern Iraq

Two artillery shells landed just outside the camp of Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force troops in the southern Iraqi city of Samawah on Thursday morning, Kyodo News reported.

No one was injured, Kyodo said.

The shells landed just past 7:00 a.m., the sources said. Japan has about 550 troops in the city who are engaged in reconstruction and humanitarian assistance operations there.
