A militant member of Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement, was shot dead Thursday by Israeli troops' gunfire in the northern West Bank city of Jenin, witnesses and medical sources said.

According to the witnesses, an Israeli undercover unit of soldiers disguised as Palestinians and backed by jeeps and armored vehicles raided one of the neighborhoods in the city and shot the militant dead.

The medical sources at the Jenin Hospital said that they received the body of a Palestinian resident of the city shot in his head and chest.
