Sharon does not want any commitment: MaherIsraeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's statements that a Palestinian state under the roadmap was dead clearly indicate that he does not want to be committed to anything, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher denounced on Wednesday. Maher was quoted by the official MENA news agency as saying that the whole world was agreed on the principles of a Palestinian-Israeli settlement and on international legitimacy documents in this respect, which Sharon had always defied. The Egyptian foreign minister called on the world to shoulder its responsibility and face the situation, saying the international community should stand in the face of attempts to jeopardize any chance for peace. He revealed that he has had a meeting with the Chinese ambassador to Egypt Wu Sike and they tackled the two countries' supportive stances of the Arab right. The Chinese envoy asserted his country's keenness on promoting moves towards peace and Egypt's efforts in this regard based on the terms of reference and documents agreed upon, Maher said. According to him, the Egyptian official has also held talks with French and British ambassadors in Cairo, which covered Egypt's expectations of the upcoming meeting of foreign ministers of the Quartet grouping the United States, the United Nations, the European Union and Russia.
