At the sixth anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and South Africa, which is also the tenth anniversary South Africa's democracy and freedom, People's Daily and the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa to China jointly published commemorative special magazine "Celebrating Ten Years of Freedom In South Africa and The South Africa-China Partnership" for the Tenth Anniversary of South Africa's Democracy and Freedom and Sino-South African Partnership" to celebrate the great achievements of the stable development of the partnership between People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Republic of South Africa.

The Embassy of the Republic of South Africa to China held in Beijing on April 29, 2004 a grand celebration and publishing ceremony with People's Daily for the special magazine. Yu Ning, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of People's Daily, Ji Peiding, Vice Minister of the International Department of Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Lu Guozeng, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister, Muziwakhe Themba Kubheka, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to China and more than one thousand guests from all walks of life attended the ceremony.

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, People's Daily President Wang Chen, Muziwakhe Themba Kubheka, South African Ambassador to China and Liu Guijin, Chinese Ambassador to South Africa published commemorative articles entitled "Carry Forward Our Cause into the Future and Create Hand-in-hand a Wonderful Tomorrow", "Media: Bridge between Friendship and Cooperation", "Ancient Roots and a Blossoming Partnership" and "China-South Africa Relations Herald a Brighter Future" respectively.

The commemorative magazine also includes "Comprehensive Survey of Reports by People's Daily since the establishment of New South Africa" and published group photos entitled "South Africa Impression" on visits by people such as Yu Ning, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of People's Daily.
