The Democratic People's Republic ofKorea (DPRK) on Friday notified South Korea that it replaced its chief delegate for an upcoming inter-Korean ministerial talks.
South Korean Yonhap News Agency quoted an official of the SouthKorean Unification Ministry as saying that Kwon Ho Ung, a DPRK Cabinet councilor, will replace Kim Ryong Song as the chief negotiator to the 14th Inter-Korean Ministerial Meeting slated on May 4-7 in Pyongyang.
The DPRK made the notification at the border contact at the truce village of Panmunjom earlier Friday.
Kim has led the DPRK delegation for the recent six rounds of such meeting.
Kwon, 45, graduated from Kim Il Sung University and served as adirector of the North American and European bureau at the DPRK's committee handling overseas DPR Koreans.
The new chief delegate also attended the previous round of inter-Korean Cabinet level talks which were held in Seoul earlier this year.
The inter-Korean ministerial talks are the highest level of bilateral contact between the two countries.
