Armed police ready for any possible emergencies during holiday
font size

The Chinese People's Armed Police (PAP) have prepared themselves fully for any possible emergencies during the imminent week-long "May Day" holidays and PAP squads across the country will help maintain order in important public places.

PAP troops in all localities have been working out detailed plans to cope with any types of unexpected occurrences or mishaps, said a source with the Armed Police headquarters on Friday.

PAP officers have raised their sense of duty and keep high vigilance. Policemen are seen far and wide guarding sits of major importance, such as railway and bus stations, sea and river ports, airports with busy passenger flows, booming downtown areas, tourism attractions and major sites of significance near their offices or barracks, he acknowledged.

Millions of Chinese families are expected to travel extensively during the holiday, which is called a "golden week" for tourism in China, but over recent years, there have been a rise in the number of accidents during the period.
