font size

Delegates of Trade Unions from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and South Korea celebrated the May Day on Saturday at the Rungna Islet in Pyongyang and promised to contribute to the reunification of the Korean peninsula.

This is the first grand party held in Pyongyang featuring the topic of reunification by trade unions from the DPRK and South Korea.

The delegates were warmly welcomed by people from all circles of Pyongyang. Ryom Sun-gil, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of the DPRK, attended the grand party.

Both sides promised that they will try their best to realize national reunification by carrying forward the spirit of the June 15 Joint Declaration.

The delegates from the two sides expressed in a joint resolution issued Saturday that the class of workers should stand in the front of the reunification movement and prevent the peninsula from any war.

They also held some sports and amusement activities.

The delegation of South Korean's trade union arrived in Pyongyang Friday and met Pak Bong-ju, premier of the Cabinet of the DPRK on the May Day.
