S.Korea, DPRK to hold ministerial talks
font size

South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will have an inter-Korean senior level meeting later on May 4 in DPRK's capital Pyongyang.

South Korean five-member delegation, led by Unification Minister Jeong Se-hyun, will leave Incheon International Airport around noon and arrive Pyongyang's Sunan Airport at about 2:00 p.m.(0500 GMT) Tuesday, according to news advisory issued by South Korean Unification Ministry.

The 14th Inter-Korean Ministerial Meeting will last four days from Tuesday, during which the two sides planned to discuss various inter-Korean exchanges.

Moreover, South Korea will propose that the DPRK sincerely participate in a six-nation nuclear working-level meeting to be held in Beijing later this month, and cooperate in ongoing inter-Korean business projects such as the construction of an industrial complex for South Korean firms in the DPRK's border city of Kaesong, local media said.

Earlier last month, the DPRK hinted at the postponement of the talks, citing political turmoil in South Korea following the parliament's impeachment of President Roh Moo-hyun in March.

But the two sides confirmed to hold the meeting as schedule at a border contack last week.

According to the advisory, Kwon Ho Ung, a DPRK Cabinet councilor, will replace Kim Ryong Song as the chief negotiator to the ministerial meeting. South Korean negotiators are slated to return home on Friday.
