Shanghai releases water information to public

Shanghai has made public of 88.3 percent of its water information, according to Shanghai's municipal water resources bureau.

The bureau has sorted out 298 pieces of information on local water resources, covering the water supply, water drainage, rain disposal and water saving categories, and made public of 263 pieces of them.

Through the information, Shanghai denizens could check out the quality of their running water, know about the cut of water supply ahead of time, learn about the ongoing waterworks projects and the like.

The move was in an effort to build up the transparency of the government work, said an official with the municipal water resources bureau.

Information could be accessed through the Internet on the website of water resources bureau and in its office building. An English version of the water information was also put up on the website.
