China promotes formation of Asian association of salt industry

China is lobbying for the formation of the Asian association of salt industry and it has receive positive response in the region, according to the China Salt Industry Corporation.

The company, the country's monopoly producer and dealer of salt, is still exchanging views with its counterparts in the region, General Manager Mao Qingguo told Xinhua in a recent exclusive interview.

Asia is the world's large market for salt, he said, noting that Japan, the Republic of Korea and countries of the Association of South-east Asian Nations (ASEAN) are big consumers of salt.

He said that the establishment of the association will help maintain order of salt market and promote the development of salt industry in the region and in China as well.
