China reports no new SARS cases for past 24 hours (May 7)

China reported no new suspected or diagnosed SARS cases for the past 24 hours on the Chinese mainland, the Health Ministry said Friday.

The ministry said the Anhui confirmed SARS patient Song is in good condition with normal temperature for 14 straight days.

One Beijing confirmed SARS patient, with the surname of Zhang, is currently in critical condition due to previous diseases, the ministry said, adding that other SARS patients are all recovering.

In addition, the ministry said all the 115 people put under medical observation for SARS in Anhui were proved free of the disease with the last two people were removed from quarantine on Friday.

In Beijing, none of the people in close contact with SARS patient have shown abnormal symptoms and so far 455 have been removed from medical observation, according to the ministry.
