HK to celebrate International Museum DayThe "International Museum Day 2004,Hong Kong" organized by Hong Kong's Leisure and Cultural Services Department, will be held next Saturday and Sunday and involve 23 museums and cultural institutions from Guangdong Province, Macao and Hong Kong. All the local participating museums will be free of charge and there will be more than 80 exhibitions. Meanwhile, the Museum Exposition with a theme "Enjoying, Learning and Exploring at Museums" will be held, providing visitors with entertaining booth games and a series of educational activities. There will be glamorous stall games, ceremonial stage and family corner programs such as puppet show, talks on tea and Chinese medicine, model making, origami workshop and a "Treasure Hunting" game. Booths of 24 cultural institutions at the Special Exhibition Hall of the Science Museum will also provide details of individual museum's collection, characteristics, services and activities. To encourage more people to visit local museums frequently, the "Hong Kong Museum Tour" game will also be organized. Visitors to the Museum Exposition will receive a game card to take part in the game to be held from May 17 to August 29. Other entertaining activities during the two days include lectures on museum work and exhibitions, demonstrations on art and traditional handicrafts, model making, children's program, free guided tours and behind-the-scenes tour. "International Museum Day 2004, Hong Kong" is in support of the International Museum Day first designated on May 18, 1978, by the International Council Museum.
