English and Arabic editions of PD Online present new versions

The new versions of the English and Arabic editions of People's Daily Online have been formally unveiled on May 8, 2004.

Compared to the original, the web pages of the two foreign language editions present beautiful designs, clear-cut classification, which will better meet the need of the readers.

Content has been adjusted in the new versions, in which the characteristics of People's Daily Online will be highlighted with increased amount of information. In the new column "PD Comments" of the English edition, there will be analyses on current politics, economy, science and education, sports, and culture and life. Another newborn channel "Photos" showcases kaleidoscopic pictures on a variety of topics.

Channels on exchanges between China and foreign countries and "Middle East Channel" have been added to the Arabic new version.

Service has been more stressed in the new versions. The English edition establishes "Online Community" and "China Biz Info" to facilitate exchanges among readers and between the website and the readers. With the "Community", the readers can voice their comments on any piece of news and also hold discussions on a certain news event. And the China Biz Info provides readers easy access to exchanges on business.

Besides the current news services, the English edition enables readers to conveniently save news, receive news alert (to be updated) and adjust font in display. Plus original daily news billboard, weekly and monthly rankings are also offered. Free newsletter has been upgraded to provide subscribers daily important news and recommended photo. Additionally, feature-making function on the new version has also been enhanced.

The Arabic edition newly added features of related news, news ranking, feedback, news printing and sending as well as free newsletter subscription, weather forecast, stocks and exchange information. News publishing program has been greatly improved, which guarantees the efficiency of publication.
