Iranian conservatives win second round of parliamentary election

Iranian conservative candidates have won 33 of 57 Majlis (parliament) seats in the second round of voting on Friday, the official IRNA news agency reported on Saturday.

The results also showed that reformists took 5 seats and independents won 7 seats.

The second round of voting took place in 39 constituencies wherecandidates failed to win 25 percent of the votes cast in the first round on Feb. 20.

With the 33 seats, the conservatives have gained dominance by some 190 seats in a 290-member parliament.
