font size

A suburban train collided with a freight train Saturday in the southern German city of Munich, injuring 54 people, 10 seriously, police said.

The commuter train, with about 100 people on board, was runningat about 20 miles per hour at the time of the accident Saturday morning, police said.

Police said that preliminary inquiries suggested that the driver of the freight train had failed to stop at a warning signal.

Most of the injured were allowed to leave hospital after being treated for cuts caused by flying glass but others had to stay with broken limbs.
