US soldier killed in mortar attack in Mosul

A US soldier was killed and another wounded in a mortar attack on the coalition base in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul on Saturday, the US military said Sunday.

The wounded soldier had been sent to the military hospital in Mosul, the military added.

Mosul, a predominantly Sunni Muslim city 370 km north of Baghdad, has seen many attacks against the US forces since the outbreak of the Iraq war last year.
