France condemns Chechnya's bombing
font size

France on Sunday strongly condemned the explosion in Grozny, capital of the Chechen Republic, killing its president Akhmad Kadyrov.

In a statement, the French Foreign Ministry said France opposes any form of terrorism and no excuse and reason can justify it.

France emphasizes that the conflict in Chechnya can only be resolved in a political way instead of violence within the framework of the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation, the statement said.

Kadyrov and Khusein Isayev, chairman of Chechnya's State Council, were killed with 30 others when a bomb exploded at a parade in a stadium in Grozny on Sunday.

No group has claimed responsibility.
