The United States on Sunday condemned a bomb attack in the Chechen capital of Grozny which killed at least seven people, including Chechen President Akhmad Kadyrov.

"The United States government strongly condemns the terrorist attack in the Chechen capital Grozny today," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said. " We mourn the loss of life and extend our condolences to the families of the victims."

The spokesman said that the United States "resolutely rejects all acts of terrorism and those who commit them" and "no national, ethnic, religious or other cause can even justify the use of terror."

The blast, which took place at a packed stadium in Grozny, also injured 46 others, according to the Chechen Interior Ministry.
