The State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine on Monday publicized a list of manufacturers producing reliable milk powder after some inferior milk powder caused 13 infant deaths in east China's AnhuiProvince.
Reports showed that in rural areas of Anhui's Fuyang City, besides the deaths, 171 infants suffered from malnutrition after being fed with milk powder deficient in protein and other nutrients.
Their parents had bought cheap milk powder which contained little nutritional ingredients at rural shops in Fuyang.
The recent nationwide special inspection showed that 30 enterprises, whose outputs account for over 80 percent of the total national milk powder production, produce qualified milk powder.
The 30 enterprises, including the Sanlu Company in north China's Hebei Province, the Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group Companyand the Wandashan Company in the country's northernmost Heilongjiang Province, have been producing reliable milk powder all along, according to a long-time examination by the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
