Visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and British Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott jointly launched a Sino-British business website here on Monday, in a bid to further boost economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
The website was launched at the end of a seminar entitled Revitalizing Old Industrial Bases in Northeast China, at which Wenurged British entrepreneurs to play a role in helping revitalize China's old industrial bases.
The website, developed by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and launched under the help of China-Britain Business Council (CBBC), is aimed to offer a platform for both Chinese and British business circles intending to invest and do businesses in each other's countries, Yu Xiaodong, director general of the Economic Information Department of CCPIT, told Xinhua before the launching ceremony.
He said "the businessmen registered in both CCPIT and CBBC fromboth countries from now on can have an access to all kinds of trustworthy, reliable and authentic information concerning investment opportunities and products supply chains."
He said the businessmen in both countries could read simultaneously the information in both English and Chinese languages on the website through HS customs code system which can change product names automatically.
He said information including commercial seminars, trade and industrial delegation visits, as well as trade exhibitions, can also be found on the website.
