Serbia's special court on Monday postponed the trial of Milorad Lukovic, the man accused of masterminding the murder of late Serbian prime minister Zoran Djindjic last year, the Beta News Agency reported.
Lukovic appeared in court for the first time on Monday. But he and his attorneys asked for a 45-day recess to prepare defense before entering a plea.
A panel of judges agreed to give Lukovic 30 days to organize his defense. The trial will resume on June 10.
Lukovic, commander of the ex-special police, is the prime suspect of the assassination. He gave himself up to police last week after 14 months in hiding.
Djindjic, 50, died on March 12 last year in an emergency hospital in Belgrade, hours after being shot that morning.
