Anti-terrorism effort should be combined with those of peace and development in a bid to diminish the social roots of terrorism, said Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), here Tuesday.
Jia made the remarks during a meeting with foreign participantsof the International Symposium on International Counter-Terrorism Situation and Cooperation that opened Tuesday in Beijing.
Jia said anti-terrorism is a hard task and needs the cooperation of all nations and regions.
Enhancing the research and exchanges on anti-terrorism can helpinternational communities build up more common consensus and cooperation, said the chairman.
Jia also briefed the guests on the principle stance of the Chinese government on anti-terrorism.
Ryutaro Hashimoto, former prime minister of Japan who was amongthe guests, said he was pleased to attend the symposium, at which experts held in-depth discussions.
The three-day symposium was jointly sponsored by the China Institute for International Strategic Studies and the Hotung Institute for International Relations.
