Shanxi reports tenfold rise in use of overseas investment

North China's Shanxi Province registered 41.11 million US dollars in actual use of overseas investment during the first four months of this year, nearly 10 times the figure during the same period a year ago, according to official statistics.

From January to April, Shanxi ratified 30 overseas-funded projects, using 534 million dollars in total investment, up 80 percent year-on-year, including 125 million dollars in contractualoverseas funding.

The overseas-funded projects newly set up in the four months include two each with investment exceeding 100 million dollars, nine with more than 10 million dollars each, and 11 with 5 milliondollars.

The number of overseas-funded agricultural projects rose 23 percent year-on-year to seven in the four months, which were mainly engaged in fruit and vegetable processing industries.
