US lawmakers who viewed fresh photos and videos of Iraqi prisoner abuse on Wednesday said the pictures included disturbing images of torture and humiliation, a news report said.
The Associated Press report, quoting several senators, said that photos of sexual intercourse were among the images that Pentagon officials screened for lawmakers in the Capitol.
At least some of them appeared to depict consensual sex involving US military personnel, said the senators, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
"The whole thing is disgusting and it's hard to believe that this actually is taking place in a military facility," Senator Dianne Feinstein, a Democrat from California, was quoted as saying.
Some photos also showed military dogs snarling at cowering prisoners, and Iraqi women commanded to expose their breasts, theysaid.
The prisoner abuse scandal has rocked the Bush administration and apparently led to the beheading of an American in Iraq by Islamic militants who said they were avenging the abuse at the AbuGhraib prison, the report said.
During a hearing at the Congress last Friday, Rumsfeld warned that there were hundreds of photos and videos of abuse that if released, could worsen the scandal that has been damaging the US credibility and reputation.
The Pentagon and Congress have already begun investigating the abuse, for which President George W. Bush has apologized and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said he accepted responsibility.
