At least six Israeli soldiers were killed Wednesday when an Israeli tank drove over a roadside bomb on the border line between the town of Rafah in southern Gaza Strip and Egypt, Palestinian militants and Israel Radio reported.
Saraya Al Quds, armed wing of the Islamic Jihad (Holy War)movement, claimed responsibility for killing the six Israelisoldiers.
Members of the militant group announced by megaphones that theywere responsible for the attack and that they would keep theremains of the Israeli soldiers.
The militants said that while the Israeli tank was patrollingthe area of the borders, they detonated a roadside bomb plantednear the borderline area and blew up the vehicle.
Palestinian witnesses said they heard a huge blast when the bombexploded and saw pieces of the tank flying in the air, adding thatanother tank approached the destroyed one and another explosionwent off, killing the six soldiers.
The witnesses said right after the attack, Israeli army tanksfired two shells at the Rafah refugee camp, wounding 11Palestinians.
