FDI hits $19.6b in Jan.-April period

Actually used foreign direct investment (FDI) in China surged 10 percent to hit 19.6 billion US dollars year-on-year in the January-April period, official figures show.

Statistics from the Ministry of Commerce show that the contractual FDI soared by 53.96 percent year-on-year to achieve 47 billion US dollars and 14,328 new foreign-funded enterprises were established in China during the first four months, up 17.46 percent.

By April, 479,605 foreign-funded enterprises had been established in China since it approved such applications about two decades ago. The contractual FDI summed up to 990 billion US dollars and the actually used FDI totaled 521 billion US dollars.
