Another two overseas institutions join QFII club after Merrill Linch. China exported more agricultural products in Q1 and hopes to double in a decade. ACCA enjoys good time in China.

Two more OFIIs extended
China Securities Regulatory Committee recently has approved OFII status of Hangseng Bank and SMBC of Daiwa Securities.

Merrill Lynch became QFII a few days ago. With the three joining the club, there are 15 QFIIs in China now.

In the last five months, no QFII quotas approving was launched by State Administration of Foreign Exchanges. So far QFII investment quotas approved totals 1.7 billion USD.

China becomes ACCA¡¯s 2nd global center
Huang Jing¡¯an, president of ACCA global, declared on May 11 in Beijing that China has become ACCA¡¯s biggest center out of Britain.

Born in 1904, London-based ACCA is the biggest and fastest-growing accountants¡¯ association extending around the world. Its interest in China began in 1988. ACCA has the largest enrollment out of professional international accountants¡¯ associations which have made presence in China. Among its 320,000 members and students in 160 countries around the world, more than 50,000 are in China.

China¡¯s agricultural exports increased for Q1
The Ministry of Commerce disclosed that China has secured a high increase of its agricultural products so far this year amid the bird flu. Statistics of the customs showed that China exported 5.12 billion USD worth of agricultural products, including aquatic and sea products for the first three months of this year, 14.3 percent higher over the same period of last year.

China ranks sixth in the world in terms of agricultural products export which totaled 21.24 billion USD in 2003 (including aquatic and sea products), up 17.9 percent over the previous year.

China is expected to double its agricultural exports in a decade.

ASEAN, ROK, US, EU, Japan and China¡¯s HKSAR are the largest six export markets for agricultural products in the world.
