Six-party talks working group meeting to end Saturday

The first working group meeting of the six-party talks on the Korean nuclear issue is expected to close in Beijing on May 15

morning, sources said.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo will meet all delegates to the meeting before the conclusion.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao told a press conference Thursday that the delegates from the six parties spoke earnestly and candidly at the meeting, elaborating their respective stands.

The parties have added new contents to their speeches, which will be helpful to the parties in fully understanding each other'sstances, Liu said.

The envoys from China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the United States, the Republic of Korea, Russia and Japan gathered Wednesday

morning in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in China's capital, the venue for the previous two rounds of six-party talks, to convene the inaugural working group meeting.

Chinese ambassador on Korean Peninsula affairs Ning Fukui headed the Chinese delegation and chaired the meeting.
