Chinese top legislator meets Madagascar presidentChinese National People's Congress is ready to increase contacts and exchanges with the Madagascar parliament to further the relations between the two states. Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, made the remarks in Beijing on May 14 when he met with visiting Madagascar President Marc Ravalomanana. As the exchanges and cooperation between two countries' legislative organs have become an important part of contributions to state-to-state friendly relations, Wu said, the frequent contacts between Chinese and Madagascar legislative organs have turned out to be a new bridge leading to the promotion of friendlyrelationship between the two countries. Wu noted that Sino-Madagascar relations have been consolidated and continuously enhanced since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries 32 years ago. China and Madagascar both are developing countries at the same tasks to develop their economy and increase people's living standard, he said, the cooperation between the two countries is conducive to the fundamental interests of the two peoples. Ravalomanana said that Madagascar and China have conducted fruitful cooperation. China's rapid development impresses the world and set up a good example for all developing nations, he noted. He said that Madagascar parliament values its relationship withthe NPC, and will learn from the NPC's experience and further the friendly relations with China and its parliament. |
