Israeli troops stationed on the border between Israel and Gaza City shot dead Sunday night three Palestinian militants who were attempting to infiltrate into Israel, Israel Radio reported.

Four Palestinians were trying to approach the eastern border between Gaza and Israel, the radio said, adding that the soldiers stationed there noticed them and immediately shot at them.Palestinian security sources said there was intensive gunfire on the border between Gaza City and Israel, but they said they were not clear if any Palestinian was killed.

According to the sources, Israeli soldiers usually keep the bodies of the Palestinians killed in the scene to check for explosives.

Only after the soldiers find that there are no explosives on the bodies, they will contact the Palestinian side and inform them to send an ambulance to take the bodies, they added.
