China's National People's Congress (NPC) attaches importance to its relations with the Thai parliament and will contribute to developing Sino-Thai friendly relations in accordance with the principle of treating neighbors as friends and partners.
Wu Bangguo, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, made the remarks when he met here Monday with Kramol Tongdhamachart, president of the Thai Constitutional Court, and his party.
Wu said China is satisfied with the current Sino-Thai relations. The two countries have maintained frequent high-level exchanges, he said, referring to the state visit by Chinese President Hu Jintao to Thailand last October, and several visits by the Thai leaders to China last year.
He added that China and Thailand have enjoyed mutual political trust and sizable economic cooperation, voicing his belief that the visit by Kramol Tongdhamachart will further advance Sino-Thai relations.
Wu expressed his appreciation for the adherence of the Thai government to the one-China policy and the efforts it has made on promoting the relations between China and the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Kramol Tongdhamachart said he is impressed by China's legal construction and its implementation of the rule of law. The Thai parliament hopes to further increase exchanges with the NPC to push forward the relations between Thailand and China, he noted.
