State Councilor urges fair examination environment
font size

State Councilor Chen Zhili said in Beijing Monday that rectifying the country's examination environment has become an urgent task.

Speaking at a video-telephone conference, Chen called for a fair, just and unified examination environment for the whole country's examinees, saying that the examination environment rectification included four aspects.

The first is to rectify examination order at exam venues. Cheating in examinations through telecommunication tools, illegal practice of using others as replacements and disturbance of exam order will all be punished, Chen said.

The second is to prevent leaking of exam papers. Measures will be taken to punish lawbreakers who steal, sell and spread exam papers, she said.

The third is to prevent exam organizers from launching group cheating, and fourth is to crack down on fraudulence under the name of examination, according to Chen.

China's annual university entrance examination, officially initiated more than 20 years ago and taken every summer, is the main channel for the country to select talented people. Chen urged government departments at various levels to strengthen preparatory work to ensure fairness of the examination.
