Hu Jintao meets Kazakh President

President Hu Jintao said that China is willing to work together with Kazakhstan to create a new state of cooperation between the two countries during talks with visiting Kazak President Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev Monday in Beijing.

Hu proposed the two countries increase trade between them. They can step up and deepen their cooperation in energy, with the pipeline linking the two countries being a breakthrough project.

The Chinese president expressed the welcome that Kazak enterprises' help in developing western China.

Nazarbayev said his country values its friendship and partnership with China and regards China as its most important cooperative partner, adding that the Kazak government will make efforts to enhance its strategic partnership relations with China and expand mutually-beneficial cooperation in economics, trade, energy and transportation.

The Kazak president also said his country will cooperate with China to fight terrorism, separatism and extremism. He says he believes the development of China will not pose a threat to his country.

The two presidents signed a joint statement after their talks and attended the signing ceremony of several cooperative documents including the Agreement on the Establishment of Sino-Kazak Cooperation Committee and a Framework Accord on Comprehensive Cooperation in the Fields of Oil and Gas.
