Indian President may appoint Sonia Gandhi as PM

Indian Congress Party president Sonia Gandhi, who has been invited by President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam for a discussion on government formation, will meet him at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The Press Trust of India reported that Kalam may give a letter to Gandhi appointing her as the prime minister.

Earlier sources said that she would call on the President at 9:30 a.m.

In another development, the Delhi High Court Tuesday reportedly posted for May 26 the hearing on a petition seeking stay on a person who is not a naturally born citizen of India to hold officeof prime minister.
