Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will make a four-day official visit to China from May 27 in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of Malaysia-China bilateral relations.
"It's a continued emphasis of the relations between Malaysia and China not withstanding the change of leadership," Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar told reporters after attending the opening of the 11th Parliament in Kuala Lumpur.
He said Abdullah was expected to reiterate Malaysia's stand on the "one China policy."
The visit by Abdullah, who would be accompanied by a big business entourage, was expected to further enhance relations between the two countries, he said.
While there, Abdullah would open Malaysia's new embassy in Beijing, he said.
The bilateral relations have progressed substantially in the last 30 years following the establishment of diplomatic ties on May 31, 1974.
This year has been declared as the Sino - Malaysia Friendship Year to celebrate the 30 anniversary of founding of diplomatic relations between the two countries and Admiral Cheng Ho's arrivalat Melaka in the mid 1400s.
Cheng Ho, born in 1371, was a towering icon of the global age of expeditions in the 15th Century. He made seven historic expeditions from China to Southeast Asia, South Asia, Middle East and as far as East Africa from 1405 to 1433.
