Auto imports up 6.3% in 1st four months

China imported 64,997 motor vehicles in the first four months, up 6.3 percent over the corresponding period last year, statistics from the Ministry of Commerce show.

The figure included 43,544 cars, up 27.6 percent year-on-year, and 10,766 off-road vehicles, down 37.4 percent.

According to statistics from Chinese customs, the nation imported 5.664 billion US dollars worth of motor vehicles and components from January to April this year.

This included 2.022 billion US dollars from complete vehicles, 1.225 billion US dollars from key components, and 2.417 billion US dollars from parts and accessories.
