One SARS patient discharged from hospital in Beijing
font size

One of the last two severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) patients in Beijing was discharged from hospital Thursday afternoon and the other was to get out of isolation, said the Health Ministry.

The recovered patient surnamed Yang, a 31-year-old post-doctoral researcher, serves at the Beijing-based national Institute of Virology.

The ministry said the other patient surnamed Zhang, a 49-year-old retired doctor, had met the conditions for getting out of isolation, and would be transferred to a non-SARS hospital for further medical treatment.

Zhang was previously reported to be in serious condition due to other illnesses she had before her SARS infection.

Meanwhile, the ministry said no new SARS cases were reported on the Chinese mainland for the past 24 hours.
