China exported 89.39 billion US dollars worth of machinery and electronic goods during the first four months of 2004, up 45.4 percent year-on-year, according to latest Customs figures.
The export volume represents 55 percent of the country's overall export mix, up 4.6 percentage points over the same period last year.
The figure includes 34.06 billion US dollars for machinery and equipment exports, a rise of 52.7 percent, and 35.54 billion US dollars in exports of electric appliances and electronic products, an increase of 49.7 percent.
China's other major traditional export items also registered fast export growth during the four month period, including 22.9 percent growth in garment exports to 16.66 billion US dollars, 25 percent increase in yarns, textiles and goods exports to 9.76 billion US dollars, and 15.5 percent jump in shoe exports to 4.49 billion US dollars.
