Chinese vice president meets Togo guest

Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong met with Ouattara Fambare Natchaba, president of the National Assembly of Togo, Friday.

Zeng said China and Togo have maintained traditional friendship, and the two countries have maintained political trust and fruitful cooperation on economy and trade since they forged diplomatic ties more than 30 years ago.

Zeng expressed appreciation for the adherence of Togo to the one-China stance, and its support to China's reunification cause.

He reaffirmed that the Chinese government attaches importance to the friendly relations with Togo, and will enhance cooperation in accordance with the principle of sincerity, friendliness, and equal treatment.

Natchaba said that the friendship between Togo and China, based on sincerity and unity, has stood the test of time. Togo has always adhered to the one-China policy since it forged diplomatic relations with China in 1972, and this stance has been the consensus of all parties of Togo and will not easily change, he added.

He expressed gratitude for the help and assistance provided by China to Togo, and congratulated China's tremendous achievements in reform and opening up.
