font size

Beijing on Friday discharged its last severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) patient from Beijing Ditan Hospital.

The female patient, a 49-year-old retired doctor surnamed Zhang, left the hospital and was transferred to a non-SARS hospital for further medical treatment due to other illnesses she had before her SARS infection.

A spokesman for the hospital said she had met the conditions for getting out of SARS isolation but need further medical treatment for other illnesses.
