New deputy mayor appointed in Shanghai

The Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress approved the proposal to appoint Hu Yanzhao as the city's deputy mayor at a meeting held Thursday.

Yang Dinghua was approved by the committee as the secretary general of the Shanghai city government.

Former Deputy Mayor Jiang Sixian and Government Secretary General Du Jiahao were removed from their posts for other appointments, according to the meeting.
