The Ministry of the Environment and Territory of Italy organized a promotion drive in Beijing Saturday to introduce its fund encouraging reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.

China's Ministry of Science and Technology co-sponsored the backgrounder on the Italian Carbon Fund.

An official with the Chinese ministry said that the two countries have agreed to cooperate on emissions reduction and climate change research.

The Italian government joined several international funds with similar environmental targets.

Few Chinese enterprises knew much about international funds for emissions reduction, let alone prerequisites and application procedure of those funds.

Some 50 representatives from governmental organs, enterprises and research institutes attended the meeting.
