A team of the UK police service Scotland Yard has arrived in Bangladesh to investigate Friday's deadly bomb blast that injured British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Anwar Chowdhury.

According to the Daily Star on Monday, police source confirmed the five-member team from Britain arrived in Dhaka Saturday, and has left for the northeastern district Sylhet Monday morning for on-the-spot investigation.

The Scotland Yard members planned to visit the Hazrat ShahjalalShrine in Sylhet where the British envoy got injured when a bomb exploded shortly after Friday prayers.

With the help of local police, the British criminal investigation team will also visit the surrounding of the shrine and talk to local people to find clues to the attack.

The Scotland Yard team was sent as the Bangladeshi government expressed the intention to seek help from London for the investigation, while the country's main opposition Awami League also demanded involvement of Scotland Yard and even FBI and CIA ofthe United States.

Anwar Chowdhury, born in Sylhet but emigrated in 1970s, took the assignment as British High Commissioner to Bangladesh early this month, and went to the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal at his hometown possibly to seek divine blessing.

Three including the high commissioner's security guard were killed and some 60 were injured in Friday's bomb blast.

Chowdhury suffered leg injuries in the attack and was flown back to the capital Dhaka Friday for treatment in an air force helicopter, as a foreign ministry release on Friday said the envoywas out of danger.

The high commissioner has left Bangladesh for London on Monday morning, while the date of his return is not confirmed yet.

British High Commission and British Council in Bangladesh have suspended their activities in the country since Saturday until further notice.
