Pakistan, India vow to continue peace process
font size

Leaderships of Pakistan and India have vowed to continue their peace process.

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf telephoned the new Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday when both leaders promised to carry on dialogue process in a bid to solve all issues between the two nuclear neighbors, the Dawn, Pakistan's top English newspaper reported Monday.

This was the first joint affirmation of the two sides to continue the peace process agreed between Musharraf and former Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee in January this year, said the Dawn.

It added that both leaders expressed "the strong desire" for peace and harmony in the region as well as development of economic and commercial ties between the two nations.

Pakistan and India have fought three wars, two of which were over the Kashmir dispute.
