Int'l hi-tech expo yields fruitful results

A total of 252 investment and tradeprojects involving 3.96 billion US dollars were contracted during the 7th China Beijing International Hi-Tech Exposition which concluded Wednesday in Beijing.

Of the total, there are 231 investment projects involving 3.94 billion dollars. Although Beijing takes only 67 of the investment deals, the capital involved accounts for 43.9 percent of the total to stand at 1.72 billion US dollars. The other 164 projects will be done in the other parts of the country.

Hi-tech projects clinched at the exposition mainly cover electronics, information, pharmaceuticals, environmental protection and new materials.

According to Zhou Maofei, deputy secretary-general of the organizing committee, more than 100 exhibitions, forums and trade fairs were staged during the six-day exposition, which attracted nearly 3,000 foreign government officials, business people, scientists and scholars, as well as more than 8,000 people from across the country, including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
