Chinese official receives Uruguayan medalLi Changjiang, director of China's State Administration of Quality Supervision and Quarantine, received the Medal of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay Wednesday at the residence of Pelayo Diaz-Muguerza, Uruguayan ambassador to China. Uruguayan Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fishing Gonzalo Gonzalez, who awarded the medal to Li on behalf of the Uruguayan president, said that this was the first time the Uruguayan government granted such medal to a non-diplomatic foreign official. "The metal expresses our recognition and appreciation for the roles Mr. Li played in promoting the friendship between our two nations," he said. Li said exchanges and cooperation in the field of quality supervision had been an important part in the bilateral ties, and cooperation between his administration and relevant departments inUruguay improved continuously.
