A batch of 170 Xiali sedan cars was containerized and left Tianjin Port in north China for Syria recently.

Sources with the Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobiles Co., Ltd. said this is the fourth batch of Xiali cars exported to other countries.

Previously, close to 1,000 Xiali cars had been exported to North America and western Asian countries.

The first group of 252 Xiali sedan cars were exported to the American region in June of 2002, according to the sources.

The FAW Xiali company plans to export 500 to 800 more cars this year and it would explore export markets in eastern Europe and other regions apart from western Asia and North America.

Tianjin FAW Xiali company, one of the three leading auto manufacturers in China, sold a total of 103,100 cars last year, anincrease of 31.58 percent over 2002.

The company has led the nation in sales of economy cars for 18 consecutive years.
