Mainland's policy towards Taiwan remains unaltered

The Chinese mainland's basic policyand guidelines towards Taiwan are persistent and clear-cut, said an official with the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council Friday in Beijing.

When asked by the press whether the mainland would alter its "one country, two systems" principle towards Taiwan, the official said that the adherence to the guidelines of "peaceful reunification and one country, two systems" as well as the eight-point proposal on the development of cross-Straits relations and the advancement of peaceful reunification of the motherland for the current stage will not change.
