Thailand confirms H5N1 bird flu

Thailand has confirmed that the avian flu virus found in the country was the highly-contagious H5N1 strain.

Last week, an outbreak of bird flu occurred in a research farm in northern Thailand.

Reports said the relevant department has isolated and is closely monitoring the farm.

So far, the disease has not spread to farms nearby and no-one working in the research farm has contracted the disease.
